Covering Up Your Undereye Baggage

Good Morning Trish.

Thanks for writing, I was looking for a reason to procrastinate. :)

Like I stated in the blog, makeup should be used to enhance your features.  If you haven’t been wearing makeup for 30 years, something tells me you wouldn’t NEED to start now.  You must have a wonderful natural glow about you :)  I get compliments all the time when I don’t wear makeup, but for me, I prefer a little coverage. As far as concealer goes, if you aren’t wearing makeup on the rest of your face, a heavy concealer that has great coverage will be noticeable.  So, for something that’s light and natural, I would suggest using your liquid foundation.  All of the darkness won’t be covered, but it will look lighter, and no one will be able to tell you have it on.

I have REALLY dark circles under my eyes, and on the days I don’t wear makeup, I put my foundation all over my eyes, lightly pencil in my eyebrows, and apply mascara.  This way there is a little structure and definition to my face and it only takes a minute.  This little effort will go a long way.

(Unless you’re Meghan Asha who is truly blessed because all of her features are naturally accented! She slept over here last night and woke up this morning glowing…Pale as a ghost, I was wiping the sleep out of my eyes and taming my bed head.)

For those of you who do wear makeup, here are my favorite concealers with more coverage:

  1. YSLAnti-Cernes Stick Concealer (pictured above) – Heavy with great coverage, $30
  2. Almay Clear Complexion Concealer – Liquid with medium coverage, $8-$10
  3. Revlon New Complexion Concealer – Cream in a pot, comes with a light and dark shade, $10

Just make sure that you don’t get a shade that’s too light, it really needs to be only a hint lighter than your skin.
