My friend Charlie from London is in town visiting. I lived with him and one of my best friends Toby in Notting Hill the summer of 2004. That was the life….I graduated a year early from USC (spending my last semester abroad in London). After deciding that television production was not my calling in life, I took a retail job, saved some cash, and went back to London to fully enjoy the vibrant city. Days of shopping, museum hopping, and reading in Hyde park got me the nickname “lady of leisure.” (which they pronounce leszure)
Charlie and I reminisced about old times as we strolled through Union Square. Walking home, I found myself singing the Girl From Ipanema. That summer we only listened to two albums: Red Hot Chili Peppers’ By The Way and Getz/Gilberto.
You can’t help but sway and smile to the Latin jazz ditties with Getz’ sax and Gilberto’s unique voice. Even if you’re sitting in your living room, the songs provide a relaxed, South American, sitting-in-a-cafe atmosphere. The perfect way to enjoy any beautiful morning.
