NEW YORK STATE OF MIND
Last night, a friend from LA was in town and wanted a “local” experience at a restaurant with “lite fare.” Hmm…that takes out about half of NYC’s finest.
So I planned a night I thought exemplified what we love most about NYC: good food, fun atmosphere, and a little overindulgence. My restaurant of choice was Little Owl, a cozy neighborhood spot in the West Village with amazing food and a mellow atmosphere. I knew we’d wait at least an hour for a two-top, so we strolled over to Employees Onlyfor one of their famous cocktails. It’s loud in there, but that’s New York baby. Back at Little Owl, we dined on their special risotto, followed by the pork chop and crab, accented with a delightful Sangiovese. Although their dessert menu looked tempting, I was on a Manhattan mission, which meant a post-meal walk down quiet streets, our destination: Magnolia Bakery. That’s the overindulgent part :)
Of course there are a million “New York Night” combos, each unique in it’s own way. I guess that means you’ll have to come back Brad, if for nothing else to compare the pork chop to Babbo.
