Donors Choose is one of the most innovative charities, I’ve seen thus far on the web. They use an EBAY-like search engine that allows you to search for classrooms and programs around the country that are in need of school supplies. The first time I tried out this site, I looked up my old grammar school in San Jose and saw that they desperately needed computers. I was shocked at how easy it was to donate. The process is both swift and specific, traits that I rarely find when making donations.
Recently, Donors Choose launched the Bloggers Challenge, employing blogs across the web to raise money for the programs of their choice. I’m asking all NonSociety readers to please visit this site and donate to one of the most neglected programs in our country: Children’s Education. Of course, I picked a couple programs related to technology, feel free to check out my picks and DONATE (even if it’s only a few bucks). With our current economic climate the way it is, it’s nice to know that there’s a nonprofit out there devoid of bureaucracy allowing it’s users to donate to the specific cause of their choosing.
