The food was delizioso.
I’m not a scallop fan, but this appetizer with butternut squash, cranberries and pistachios knocked my socks off.
But wait, it gets better. The gnudi, which came from the original Dona menu, was deemed “sex on a plate.” Not the sweet kind obviously, the OH so savory kind. Covered in mushrooms in a truffle butter sauce topped with crispy prosciutto and sage, it was truly orgasmic.
For entrees we choose swordfish and salmon, both light, but with the perfect veggie accompaniments (not that we were disillusioned this meal had any chance of being “healthy.”)
Dessert? But of course. You would expect the tiramisu to be fabulous, but the ricotta zeppole (aka donuts) was scrumptious. (Here’s a tip, order them with the chocolate gelato instead of the dark chocolate sauce. Thank me later!)
All of that and I feel just like I would after a traditional Tuscan meal, satisfied and not stuffed.
