Last night Jordan and I left pizza and beer and opted for a more authentic Italian fare. In other words, the bar was dead so Jordan introduced me to another one of his fantastic New York hideaways.
I walked in, and I was in love. This small, one room restaurant instantly enchants you with it’s soft, dim lighting, non-intrusive open kitchen, and quiet atmosphere. Basically, if you’re looking for a good first date spot, this is it.
Amazing classic Italian fare, friendly service, and a noise level that you can have a pleasant conversation in a normal tone of voice.
Meatballs are they’re speciality. But I was equally satisfied by the fresh parmigiano and arugula salad. I don’t really think you can go wrong with this menu.
I always judge Italian restaurants on a Babbo-Frankie’s scale. Both offering ridiculously delicious rustic Italian but differing in atmosphere. Babbo being more formal and expensive, Frankie’s is a little more affordable and definitely casual. Appizz falls comfortably in the middle.
