Corton – TriBeCa
Last night I dined at Corton, the latest opening of restauranteur Drew Nieporent. He’s a pretty big deal in the industry (I’m sure you’ve heard of Nobu) so it was a pleasant surprise to have him take my coat. (Even more shocking was his casual attire in his very upscale eatery.)
After hearing about my adoration for Apizz, I’m sure you know I wasn’t a fan of the stark, cold decor filled with old people.
The Burgundian wine was fantastic, but the food missed its high mark. Dishes were either too salty or bland. Out of six, the only one worth mentioning was the perfectly prepared squab wrapped in bacon and covered in creme (like that could ever be bad).
Corton has only been open for a month, so I’m sure Mr. Nieporent will work out the kinks.
