For the last two night, I have been perched up typing away in bed when Andy crawls in and wants to go to sleep….at 11pm!
I can’t remember the last time I closed my eyes before 12. The reason could be work, catching up on missed episodes of 24, reading blogs, whatever. If the clock hasn’t struck 12 (or 2) I think I can squeeze more into the day.
But since I am a guest, I turn my computer off and close my eyes at 11. I think to myself, “it’s too early, I won’t be able to go to sleep, I’ll be tossing and turning for at least an hour, should I take my computer downstairs, ugh.”
Within minutes I’m fast asleep. And when 6am rolls around, and the alarm rings to get up for the gym, I am able to hop out of bed. Ok, not hop, but not feel miserable about the early hour.
This might seem like a silly revelation, but I constantly feel like there’s not enough time in the day to accomplish everything I want to do. But the 7 hours of rest really rejuvenates me, and I’m more productive as a result. As Meghan says, “When you wake up at 6, you get shit done.”
So if you’re like me, trust me, you’re tired at 11. Go for it, turn off the light, and enjoy an extra hour or two of beauty sleep.
