Fern Mallis, for those of you who don’t remember, is THE person to know at IMG Fashion Week.  Let’s just put it this way: she pretty much invented it.

And so when I saw her today (sporting a new hair cut, like the NonSociety gals), I knew I’d get a great perspective on how the recession should – or shouldn’t – affect fashion.::

We’ll have that interview up at Time Out New York by Monday, but the gist of what she said?  Get your credit cards out, people!  Fashion employs a heck of a lot of people, and we need to support them.  We can revive this struggling economy, one LBD at a time!

Hells yes, I say, still wearing my three-seasons-ago-bought-at-a-sample-sale-DVF.  Can I get a raise to go along with that optimism?  :)

Both perspectives are true here. We should support the fashion industry, but who has the money? And the old DVF still looks good! On a side note, not that anyone ever questioned this, but Julia, you have some balls girl. Fern still scares the shit out of me.
