Nutritionista mentions in her post on upgrading your diet that you should switch to Greek yogurt because it conains less sugar.

You should also be cognizant of the additives and preservatives in yogurt.

The other day I was grocery shopping with a friend who picked up Yoplait Light to stock in her fridge as a snack.  Before I buy I always check the ingredients so I know what I’m eating.  I was shocked to see HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP as a main ingredient!  Why add this crap when yogurt is so good on it’s own?!

I guess this is why Yoplait does not post their ingredients online.

Above is the label from Dannon’s Light & Fit Strawberry Yogurt.  You’ll notice they’ve added fructose and a lot of other crap you don’t need as well.  However, Dannon does offer an “All Natural” line that does not contain any extras.

I’m not saying don’t eat yogurt.  I’m not even saying only eat “light” yogurt.  What I am saying is that you should always check the ingredients so you know what you’re about to send through your body.  Maybe you’re ok with corn syrup (I indulge every once in a while too!), but you should at least KNOW that you’re injesting it.
