The Best Place To Stay — CouchSurfing.org
CouchSurfing.org is a non-profit organization that helps you match up with a couch/bed/guest room in the destination of your choice. All they ask is that you maintain a clean space, buy groceries, cook dinner, do something in return for your host’s hospitality.
At first, the idea of sleeping on a stranger’s couch might sound a bit awkward. But as a girl who has lived abroad in someone else’s home (via AFS in highschool), staying with a local is actually the best way to consume a new culture.
Sure it would be nice to have housekeeping clean up your mess for a change, but the experiences you will have that only a local can expose you to are priceless.
Plus, it’s cheap and the service to find the couch is free.
Reilly and Jonathan both say this program has led them to great getaways and have loved meeting new people through their hosts.
