Freestyle Exercise – Nike Free 5.0 running shoes

Last month I bought Nike’s Free 5.0 running shoes.  You’ve probably heard of them…you know, the shoe that feels like you’re barefoot.

I wasn’t even interested until the salesman told me the features that give them this quality:

  • Noticeably lighter than any other trainer. They weigh in at 6 oz each!
  • Flexible and able to bend with the movement of your foot.
  • Minimal cushion yet has an arch support.
  • Strengthens the muscles in your feet.

There are three versions. The 3.0 is truly like wearing nothing.  They claim you do yoga in them.  Mine are the 5.0 which offer a little more support. And even more sturdy are the 7.0’s.

The shoes are not recommended for heavy sports, but have proven to work well for me in running, light tennis, weight training, and group fitness classes. I especially like running in them because I feel lighter on my feet.

Honestly, I don’t see myself ever going back to a structured shoe.  The weight difference and the way I use my feet is drastically better in the Free style.

Here’s the best part – they’re only $85!  However, because they live up to the hype, it can be difficult to finding a pair in your size. I bought the last 9.5 in the country at the time.
