TAKE THE WEEK OFF FROM FITNESS
Let’s face it, over the holidays, the last thing you REALLY want to do is go to the gym.
You’ve been working your butt off at the office, in the gym, over a hot stove for the last 360 days. So take a load off, and don’t feel guilty about it. The gym will be there for you on January 4th.
Sam Upton, superstar trainer in LA, once advised me I should take a week off when I was feeling burned out with my exercise regimen. I said, “Oh hell no. I’ll be a raging bitch by day 4.” His response, “exactly!” The theory is that when you are feeling burned out on something you enjoy, you should give yourself distance from it and allow your body to crave it. (Kinda like when you tell yourself you’re not going to eat cookies, and then all you want to eat is cookies.) So when your exercise abstinence is over, you’ll be up and at ‘em at 6am excited to go to the gym.
Plus, the time off will give your body a chance to rest and recuperate. Any aches and pains will subside, and you will be able to start with a clean and healthy slate.
Now how is that for a Christmas gift!
