The Glamour of The Golden Globes

January 19th, 2010 No Comments

Last year during the Oscars, I wasn’t going to post my best and worst dressed from the red carpet and, well, you got a little upset.

Honestly, I’m not big into celebs and what they wear, but just like every other woman, I LOVE browsing the pictures and making snap judgements on their ensembles. (Pardon the generalization, you know it’s your guilty pleasure.)

So, following are a few of my thoughts you might find interesting.

First off, I had to get the hotties out of the way. Another thing I don’t do is lust after male celebrities or their unbelievable bods….but for goodness sake, I mean, Chase, Bradley, and George are just too handsome to pass up!

Boys, take note:

Suits that fit
Tamed hair
Big smiles
It can be that easy if you let it be.

I am a huge fan of these two fashionistas. Although their styles are represent two different extremes, both Nicole and Kate always choose ensembles that are exemplary in terms of trend coupled with their personality.

On this particular occasion, we can’t argue they both look stunning, but I’m not sold on their choice of gowns. I’m guessing when if I saw them in person I would have a hard time forming sentences because I would be in awe of their beauty and their couture gowns (Nina Ricci on Nicole Kidman and Marchesa on Kate Hudson).

So I’m going to give them both a thumbs up.

What do you think?

Oh goodness, what are we going to do with these goddesses who fell from their lofty perch at the Globes?

Obviously we expect this kind of showing from Mariah, but Halle? and my All-American Julia and January? Ya let us down ladies.

And The MTM Glamour Golden Globes Go To:

And the MTM Globes go to:

Jennifer Anniston in Valentino
Classic with a little bit of edge. She never tries to pull off trends, and obviously as a natural beauty she doesn’t have to.

Olivia Wilde in Gucci
This is probably my all time favorite of the night. The look is young, sparkly, and sexy without being slutty. Plus, you don’t see a lot of Gucci on the carpet these days. The bangle is a bit much, but her makeup (when you see another picture) makes her face glow. No man could survive this knockout in person.

Sandra Bullock in Bottega Veneta
You have to look at her for a while before you fall in love with this look. I don’t think it photographs well, but I’m sure in person it’s gorgeous. Plus her soft makeup and hair allowed her smile to shine. The color was the kicker for me.

Bottom line: All three looks suited each actresss’ signature style and accented their best features.

After Looking At The Gowns From the Globes

Here are the trends we can see clearly:

-Asymmetry is here to stay (duh)
-Metallics and sequins aren’t going anywhere either
-Statement earrings are made from large stones not chandelier
-Colors: black, lavender, and red.
-If you got it, flaunt it. Cleavage made a huge statement.
-Geometric shapes and silhouettes can be feminine
