Ever.

That would be the black cod at Morimoto.  I know what you’re thinking, “Can’t he be a little more creative than black cod.  It doesn’t get more traditional.  I came here for something new.”

Well, you can have new and inventive in the tuna pizza, which even Frank Bruni fell in love with.  There is also an amazing selection of roles, toro, and fusion dishes that will keep your palette intrigued…you really can’t go wrong.  Everything that passed these lips on my last visit was absolutely heavenly.

But! You can’t leave without ordering the cod.  I’ve never tasted a more tender, melt-in your mouth creamy white fish.  A sweet ginger-soy sauce is lightly brushed on as to not distract from your experience.  If you’ve eaten at Nobu or Katsuya, you’re familiar with the dry and flakey cod fish that you devour in seconds. Not here, not this fillet.  You’ll want to savor every second of his cod.

I’ll be the first to admit that my first visit  after they first opened was nothing to write home about. But after this trip, I want to shout praise from the Soho House roof deck.

And if you’re still not sold, the people watching, by that I mean men over fifty with their foreign escorts scattered amongst a trendy crowd, is solid entertainment while you savor your meal.
