A tried and true NYC Classic: Gemma in the Bowery Hotel

Gemma has gotten mixed reviews over the last few years from locals, but every time I’ve gone it’s been a great experience.  I wouldn’t say culinary genius, or even anything particularly special, but here’s what they do offer:

  • Solid Italian food at an affordable price
  • A interesting crowd
  • One of the best sidewalk patios
  • Cozy, dark atmosphere inside 
  • A perfect spot for group dinners

And after your meal, if it’s cold outside, you’ll want to cozy up by the fire in the lobby of the Bowery Hotel (that is, if a couch is available). What more can you ask for?
