On the West side overlooking the Hudson river, the Highline is what used to be the old railroad tracks that were built in the 30’s to take all of the freight traffic off of the street. In the late 90’s it was taken over by architects to redesign it to be a space for leisurely strolls amongst art installments and gardens. It starts in the meat packing district and continues to grow farther north.
Donate now and have your money matched to keep up building and maintenance. One day it will reach the Upper West Side!
If you’re not a New Yorker, you probably won’t find this attraction in your guide book, but in my opinion it’s a must see to experience what the city is all about – modern living with an appreciation for culture and stolen moments for yourself.Tweet this!
