Is Steve Martin as awesome in print as he is in the flesh?

Two tumblrs I follow – MissJacobi and QuarterLifeCoe – are raving about this book on my dashboard right now.

I’ve been wanting to pick it up, but, if I’m being honest, I really am not a leisure reader unless there is a beach involved.  The Sunday New York Times gets me through a week of any free time I have away from the computer (and obviously my tumblr dashboard).

    I LOVED (!!) Steve Martin’s novella Shopgirl but I did not
    love this book. To me the characters weren’t properly developed and
    it could have been way better. I think shopgirl was way
    better.
