Mixing it up for Spin

February 15th, 2011 No Comments

My friend Reilly and I both teach spin on Tuesday nights.  Except…. he’s rocking out at the Equinox Weho to a room full of riders on the beat and I’m pushing intervals to Houstonians who have some sort of inner hatred of beats.  Ok, sorry guys, you aren’t bad, but you could stand to pull a little more focus.

Anyway,  here’s one of Reilly’s playlists, very trendy and fresh!

  • The White Stripes – We Are Going To Be Friends
  • Girl Talk – Jump On Stage
  • Muse – Hysteria
  • LCD Soundsystem – Us V Them
  • The Go! Team – T.O.R.N.A.D.O.
  • Dr. Dre – I Need A Doctor (feat. Eminem)
  • Sleigh Bells – A/B Machines
  • Foo Fighters – My Hero
  • Fleet Foxes – Helplessness Blues
  • Cat Stevens – Miles From Nowhere
  • Mark Ronson & The Business International – The Night Last Night
I have something a little more all over the map.
  • Car Crash – Matt Nathanson
  • Alright with Me – Kris Allen
  • Electrified – Dressy Bessy
  • I’m a Bird – Modern Paranoia (AWESOME song!)
  • By The Way – Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • Praise You – Moby
  • Africa – Toto
  • Downtown Train – Rod Stewart
  • The Chain – Fleetwood Mac
  • Boom Boom Pow will.i.am remix
  • Heartless – Kris Allen
  • Hey Now – Augustana
  • Be Like That – 3 Doors Down
  • <<no music>> for 2 one minute runs in the saddle
  • Everything I Own – Bread
If you’re wondering how we come up with this stuff, I’ll fill you in quickly.  It’s not haphazard.  We plan around isolating different muscle groups so you don’t get worn out, keeping the choreography active, effective and distracting, and managing your heart rate.
