A reader wrote me an email yesterday asking me if she could pull off the latest trend in shoes.  My response:

Pulling them off is all about confidence.  Just like heels. If you love them, you’ll look good in them.

When I find a trendy pair of shoes and question the purchase, it’s mostly about price. So I either pinch every penny or splurge.   A “reasonably priced” pair of shoes never gets much love from me.  But that’s me.

If you are looking for a good deal, you can check out Steve Madden for a variety of classics.  Although, I think you’ll find them to be a little on the masculine side.

(The Trouser for $70-$80 is sold out online)

Madewell’s selection is a little more expensive, but the quality and style looks more authentic.

Boardwalk Brogue $178

If you are a “girly girl” consider buying the “oxford” style in with a wedge or cut out toe.
