Cutting a Recipe in Half Cheat Sheet

Recipes usually serve four.  I’m lucky if I’m cooking for two.  Some measurements are easy to cut in half, or you can eyeball the difference. But I like to be precise when I can be. Below the left side shows the recipe requirement and the right is its half.


1/3 cup –> 8 tsp

1/4 cup –> 2 Tbsp

1 Tbsp –> 1 1/2 tsp

The most challenging to split is one egg.  I usually use a whole small egg and cut back on another liquid.
