Lately I’ve written about how unmotivated I am to exercise. Thankfully I teach spin, but two hours of cardio a week is not enough to maintain my level of fitness.
The other day it occurred to me that there are healthy options we can choose so perhaps we don’t feel SOOO bad about, well, being bad. Here are a few suggestions that crossed my mind.
SITTING ON YOUR ASS
Sit up straight, take deep breaths and use your abs to push out the air. This will strengthen your core and help your posture!
Instead of downing beer and wine, order a vodka with soda or flat water and a slice of citrus. Less calories and possibility for a hangover.
CHOWING DOWN ON FAST FOOD
Choose the bun or the fries, but not both. Or subtract the meat and add more lettuce and tomatoes. Fast food meat is packed with fat and preservatives. And for goodness sake, don’t get the soda or shake. Do your poor body a favor and order water.
SATISFYING YOUR SWEET TOOTH
Go ahead, eat the cookie or cupcake, but choose one from a fresh bakery, not one from a package. Also try eating granola with dried fruit, chocolate, and nuts. It’s sooo yummy and doesn’t have flour. As for candy, eat 1 lollipop instead of a bag of gummy bears. If it’s chocolate you want, buy a solid bar instead of a Snickers.
Again, opt for the fresh option and stay away from anything in a package or with a brand name.
SLURPING DOWN A SODA
Drink juice, even Tropicana or Oceanspray – they’re super sweet without the syrup and carbonation.
SHOPPING TIL YOU DROP
Save the receipts and commit to taking 2 things back the next day.
