In which I “get what I want.”

Over the past month or so I’ve been going through the motions in terms of my workouts, begrudging each one instead of enjoying them, wishing I could just NOT go to the gym.

Now, I CAN’T exercise and I can barely stand it!

Last week I pulled something in my neck and shoulder while I was sleeping and it has yet to go away.  At the onset of the pain last Sunday morning, I took the day off from working out to give my body a day of rest.  One day turned into 8.  I’ve been to my sports massage therapist twice and sleeping in a “supported position.” The combination of all three has been helping, but I’m far from healed.  Thankfully my lower body is functioning so I can ride the reclined bike and today I’ll try to walk on in the treadmill.

Is it time to go to the doctor?  Possibly.  Not that I have any idea who to see in Atlanta….

A little more imposed rest, a little more tortuous massage, a little more recovery time should be enough to heal.  I hope.

As for you my readers, get out there and be active! I know it’s the holidays and it’s hard to find the time.  But you know you’ll feel better and look better after just an hour.  If you need something to do, click here for a variety of activites and exercises.  And please, ENJOY it.  Feel blessed you’re healthy in mind to know you need in and in body to be able to do it!

Mary-I’m so sorry to hear about that! I know what it’s like to get an injury–I go insane if I miss a run. I also want to thank you for this post-I, too, have been feeling totally down on myself about exercising-I have so much on my mind with work and a recent break-up that I just feel totally checked-out when it comes to running. But It’s true-an injury can come on quick and happen any time so enjoy and be thankful for a healthy body when you can. Love from a long-time More Than Mary fan.
