A Tour of My Suite At The Capella Pedregal – Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

November 28th, 2010

A week ago today I was leaving The Capella Pedregal in Cabo, obviously against my will :)  As promised, here is a tour of the suite I enjoyed (immensely) for 4 days.

When you see the ocean, it’s relatively calm.  The waves are usually a lot bigger.  In fact, the current is so strong, they don’t allow swimming on this part of the beach.  The wind at night can get pretty chilly too.

Just so you know, all of the rooms have ocean views, the big tub, a plunge pool, and fire pit.  Rates for a standard room start at $499.

My official review to come next week.

(Full Disclosure: The Capella generously comped airfare and accommodations in exchange for a review.)

Final photo from Cabo.

My last sunrise in Cabo. This was the view from my morning run up to the top of Mount Pedegral behind The Capella. Scroll down for video.

The view from the top of Mount Pedregal in Cabo

November 21st, 2010

The private houses on Mount Pedegral. Kinda looks like the Holllywood hills, but much nicer if you ask me. Most of them have huge terraces with infinity pools overlooking the marina. It’s a short 5 minute drive into town for these residents.

On the other side of the hill, there aren’t as many houses and the water is calmer. That white spec in the middle is actually a sprawling estate with a huge yard. Tough life.

My idea of R&R

Right now.

Enjoying the sunset, keeping warm by the fire, editing contributor posts, listening to John Mayer.

Nice.

A truly herbal rub down

November 20th, 2010

Herbal Foot Bath at Capella Pedregal

Great idea for an at-home massage! Use unscented oil and fresh herbs.

Who knew our favorite herbs – rosemary, thyme, and basil – are not just for cooking. In my pre- facial foot bath at the Capella Pedregal Spa, Rosie is using a huge bunch of all three to help my circulation and awake my senses. I’m not one for vanilla or lavender, so this earthy scent is right up my alley.

I’m thinking that it would be nice to have a herbal rubdown on my back before a massage instead of buying scented oils.

Ladies, gentlemen, maybe a nice Sunday treat for your lovey :)

Buenos dias desde La Capella.

November 20th, 2010

Buenos dias desde La Capella.

I learned last night that EVERY room had an ocean view, a huge tub, fire pit, and a plunge pool.

I thought I was special!

Actually I’m glad to know every guest has the same luxury despite the size and location of the room. Pictured here are the rooms set back from the beach. Tomorrow I’m taking a tour to see one of each.

Relaxation with little rest?

November 19th, 2010

Fire pits are one of my favorite centerpieces for friends and relaxation, so you can understand that I never expected to have the one on my balcony fuel my motivation to work into the wee hours of the morning.

It’s 1am here, and I haven’t put my laptop down since I came home from dinner 2 hours ago. Progress is good, but sleep wouldn’t be bad either.

I think I just want to take it all in. It’s so so so peaceful. The only thing I hear are crashing waves, the fire is keeping me warm, and the cool breeze tickles my arms so I stay awake.

Honestly my head is in another place so my mind stays occupied with the work I’ve put off for too long.

Tomorrow I’m getting up early to go Kayaking. I ALMOST declined so I could stay tucked in that great big bed and watch Gameday, but that would just be silly. Plus, I rarely say no to fun physical activities.

Ok, a few more minutes then I’m turning in.
