Not sure if I blogged this picture during Fashion Week.

It was taken at the end of Day 1 (hence the cocktail).  I’m on the phone trying to get in touch with my intern before the last show.

Looking at it…I’m thinking, wow, what a great picture, but what the hell was that Mac artist thinking with those lashes?!  Maybe I’m just not used to them, but they dominate my face.  How would I miss this looking in the mirror?  I know I didn’t walk out of the Mac studio looking like a tranny. Hmmm…

Apparently, the photographer, Matt Carkeek, showed the picture to one of his clients and it is now hanging in the man’s living room.

That’s flattering…for both of us!  Guess the the lashes aren’t so bad.

Aussie reader Carolyn introduced me to Aurelio during New York Fashion week.  I had the honor of interviewing him backstage.  Although only known to the truly savvy socialites and fashionistas now, he will be taking the scene by storm very soon.  Mark my words.

My beautiful Aurelio who saved me from many a fashion disaster including today.  Take a look at his Spring collection here.

Hailing from down under, Aurelio Costarella brought out a variety of starlets like Dawn Richard from Danity Kane to giggly coed girls excited to get their first peak of a rising designer.

Costarella show began with an ethereal vibe as the electronica music thumped and the first gown floated down the runway. The opening look—a satin purple sweetheart gown belted with exposed seams—echoed the dreamy ambience and set the tone for the creations that followed.

Costarella seemed to have gotten his inspiration from flowers and Latin culture as a black dahlia blouse with a thin cigarette pant proved to be reminiscent of a Spanish matador. A dove draped a-symmetrical colorful dress had a tango twist with a billowing skirt.

At most shows, designers leave you a little gift to say, “thank you for coming, write good things about my designs [or you’ll be standing next time!]”  Not really, but you do get a lot of cool stuff.

So I’ve collected it ALL (products, candles, makeup, towels, perfume, certificates, etc) and I’M GIVING IT TO YOU!!!

Here’s your challenge to win the goodies:

Send me your favorite picture from Milan or Paris fashion week and explain why the ensemble is fabulous.  It doesn’t have to be pretty, but obviously it must be a head turner or a jaw dropper.

Use WWD or Style.comas a resource.  May the best fashionista win!

As you know, spring fashion only begins in NYC with the little people. Afterwards, jettsetting fashionistas, editors, and buyers head overseas to Paris and Milan to gaze upon the spectacle the big boys bring to the table. (Above: Dolce and Gabbana’s Pajama Baroque)

For the latest from the runway, check out the coverage and slide show on WWD.com. Even after the redesign, Style.com is still stuck in the dark ages of the Internet.

One of these days…..I’ll be there. Writing for you and shopping for me :)

A final note. Issa, which was showing in London (obviously), was a complete disappointment. I can usually count on Issa for a sexy, fitted silhouette with a mature pattern for a sophisticated evening look. What the hell happened?????!

Reviewing runway shows can become tedious! Fashionista is making it easier.

We should just write one form post that reads like this:

__________ showed ruffled dresses and tops layered under ________ jackets. The collection took a turn for ___________ toward the end with sheer ________ and some sort of _______ jumpsuit.

So true!  After all of the one-shouldered dresses and jumpsuits I saw grace the runway for spring, I’m already over them.

Lauren Ezersky from Plumm TV is another fashionista you can always spot in a crowd.
