Wow! CZJ looks amazing. Of course the Gustavo Cadile dress is divine, but she’s just stunning.

I want to look like that when I’m her age.

I’m sure she eats well and exercises, but she also appears to be so happy. That’s the best anti-aging remedy there is.

Fairy Godmother Evenings

As much fun as it is to dress up like Cinderella, the goal of galas is not to show off your style.  Generosity, dedication, and good will are the main game.  And last weekend, everyone could play.

Take a one minute to see how Houston raised a million dollars for the city’s youth!

(see my write up of the event that was in the Houston Chronicle here)

Cinderella Head To Toes

October 27th, 2009 No Comments

A video Head To Toe of my two nights out on the town in Houston.  I truly felt like Cinderella!

Many thanks to Gustavo Cadile and Erica Courtney, two brilliant designers who bestowed me with their flawless pieces for the events.  After being a fan of their work for years, I am now pleased to call them both friends.

Edward Sanchez put the icing on the cake with a magical makeover.  Houstonians can visit him at Urban Retreat if you have a special event or just want a lesson on how to apply cosmetics and lashes.

Unfortunately Gustavo and Erica’s pricepoints aren’t very accommodating, but if you’re on the market for something truly timeless then they would be my first stop.  (Visions of weddings dance through my head….)

I understand I have a leg up in the princess department because of my fashion connections, but many of you are excellent at creating red carpet looks for less.  So, whoever sends in the most detailed replica of either ensemble for under $400 wins a $50 gift certificate to the store of your choice!

Submissions must be one jpg or pdf attached to an email list of all items (dress, chandelier earrings, 2 gold eternity bands, 2 gold/diamond bracelets), their individual prices, links to where you found them, and the total price.

Send to Mary@MoreThanMary.com by November 6th.  That should be plenty of time to search after the Halloween hangover.

(Full Disclosure: All three artists are friends and generously loaned their designs to me for the evenings.)

Cinderella evening at the Opera ends. Many thanks to my fairy godmothers Gustavo Cadile, Erica Courtney, and Edward Sanchez. Drove home in my pumpkin rental and now it’s time to turn in. Another day of dress up tomorrow for the Children’s Charity Ball.

It’s time to get ready for the Opening of The Houston Opera! I haven’t been back since the Opening of the Met last year (remember that Gustavo Cadile gown?!). The performance is The Elixir of Love followed by a bohemian themed dinner where I’ll be sitting with the chairs of the evening, Robert and Donna Bruni. To be honest, Opera isn’t my favorite form of theater, but the spectacle is quite a sight to see. And this love story in particular sounds intriguing. Not to mention the fashion!!

Hello ladies! Gustavo Cadile was so sweet to leave 2 gorgeous gowns in Houston for me after his trunk show. This weekend I’m attending the opening of the opera (dress on the right) and the Children’s Charity ball. Houston’s social scene is in full swing!

Eva Longoria + Gustavo Cadile = stunning!

(The back of this dress is open, it’s really a beautiful piece.)

Another Gorgeous Gustavo Gown

Check out Emily Deschanel in this Gustavo Cadile dress. Wow. I have been fortunate to wear two of his designs (Streamy Awards, Opening of the Met).

His gowns are truly stunning.  I hope he makes it big (like Narciso Rodriguez BIG) some day.
