Snap shots from Jill Stuart and Tracy Reese Fall 2010

Jill Stuart

Jill Stuart’s collection was exactly what it said it would be, “a collision of chaos and chic.” Nigel Barker and I both agreed that last season’s 80’s-inspired Cher show was anything but wearable and completely unexpected. I think she carried that through to fall with the bright mettalics and the rocker chic aesthetic – basically something a teenager would die to wear but her parents would never let her out of the house in. I’m being a bit harsh, but there were looks I absolutely loved. But in order for me to adore a designer, you have to present a cohesive collection yet still be unique and relevant.

Tracy Reese

Speaking of relevance, Tracy Reese is one of the biggest names on the racks right now and from this show you might struggle to understand why.  The release said the collection “is an eclectic mix of urban and rural style that is very modern yet infinitely wearable.”  That’s true, but perhaps we need  a new stylist for the show.  Her major falter for me were the patterned silk tops and ruffled skirts that looked cheap and unfinished.  However, when mixed into a wardrobe, Tracy Reese always shines.  She’s true to trend and I’m sure you’ll find it “infinitely wearable” when you style it yourself.

I’ve also included a pic of our front row footwear today.  Adrien sported Converse, and I’m wearing Calvin Klein.

Tracy Reese Finale

As you would expect, Tracy Reese showed a wearable collection you could take right to the streets.  Her clothes are always a solid feminine choice when you’re looking for something versatile that will last a while.

You can see Kim Kardashian sitting across from me in the front row.  Interesting choice of hair style….

Tracy Reese.

Tangerine had an appearance in every show, but I don’t think the bright shade of orange will be the “it” color of spring.  It took a couple of years for people to adopt purple into their fall wardrobe, so I think orange will probably need another push on the runway before we see it on the street.  Unfortunate.
