Jumpers Please

June 16th, 2009 No Comments

“I’m definitely on the lookout for some new jumpers/rompers. I have a few, but I want something with a fun summer print!” — Reader Holly, who sent me this pic of her aspirational summer jumpers.

You know what?  Me too!  I don’t have any bright floral daytime jumpers.  How is that even possible?  TopShop was always a reliable spot in London and according to their Head To Toes, I can also find some in NYC.

Be A Princess in Prints – Tibi

“Designer Details” – by Lori LaVenture

The designer and founder of Tibi, Amy Smilovic is known for her adventurous prints. While her silhouettes are simple her prints are what make you her dresses a must-have for this summer season.

Her Summer 09 Collection ranges with her Terry Strapless Beach Dress for $185 to the Painted Lady Long Maxi Dress for $565. Because her pieces are so versatile and the quality is impeccable, you’ll get several summers out of this investment.  Check out her collection on ShopStyle – I’m sure you’ll find a treasure on sale.

(MR Note: Tibi dresses are sure to impress at a summer wedding.  Because the prints make such a statement, your accessories can be simple.)

Update on this dress you all loved from Shaun’s wedding.

It’s by Pheobe.  Wynne gave the go-ahead to post her picture.  She truly exemplifies Southern beauty in my opinion.  If you guys up north are wondering what you’re missing :)

I could only find the dress in Periwinkle at Neimans online.  But check out other Pheobe designs on ShopStyle.  It’s like these dresses were made to wear to weddings.

Another Valentine’s Day TMIweekly!

Watch to hear us talk about best & worst gifts we’ve ever gotten, and what we would get our significant others this Valentine’s Day … if we had significant others ;)::

My purple silk dress is another piece I snagged from Karen Zambos while in LA.  Her mantra is “Vintage Couture” which to me says flowing and sexy with great attention to the cut and details.  Most of her stuff is a little more casual, so great for daytime.  You’ll see a lot of patterns she created herself, everything from ruffled blouses to bag dresses, and even fun jumpers.

Come to think of it, I would say her Vintage Couture reminds me of a combination of Milly and Elizabeth and James.  Two lines I love!

Oh, Mary!  I’ve found some white heels for you. ;)

They may be just a teeeeeny bit out of our budget range ($1875, cough cough), but aren’t they delicious?

When will we see Christian Louboutin for Payless, eh??

Oooo, I love pretty shoes first thing in the morning!

I actually have a pair of black Pradas with an amazing crystal design on the heel and python trim on the sandal. So lovely! How have these been out of commission for so long?  And now they are in storage. Poo.

Run from this dress!  Goodness.  I thought Jules was having a Blair Waldorf day. I’m okay with prep.  As for this monstrosity,  I wore a dress similar to it to a 80’s dance in high school.

To each her own.  But I’m going to guess most men would agree with me here. (Should you be concerned….which I’m not….at least right now in my pjs).

Awww, Betsey.  You never let me down.  (This is also on sale for $197!)

A quick shout out to Linda Pratka, owner of Ilus, who loaned us our lovely dresses for TMI.

I get letters from readers constantly asking if there is a store like Ilus in their city. (A store that rents cocktail and black tie attire for a fraction of the retail price).  As of now, my answer is unfortunately no. If you know of one, ANYWHERE, please email me.

BUT, they ship!!! Ilus has many of their styles online, and the stylists in the boutique are always happy to answer questions over the phone regarding sizes and fit.

They also have a Rewards Program.  For every friend who rents a dress, they offer you $15 off your next rental.  Bonus! Your girlfriend will definitely take you out for a drink for directing her to such a fab, affordable find.
